James II, the first monarch of the privative kingdom of Mallorca, ordered the construction of this palace in 1309. It is believed that he had it built on the site of an old Moorish fortress.

The palace was used as a royal residence until 1311, when the king moved to Perpignan. Today, this historic building houses our restaurant, preserving its architectural heritage while offering exceptional dining.

What are La Posada's opening hours?

We're open every day from 11:00 to 22:30, serving lunch through to early dinner. Hours can vary on public holidays, so we recommend confirming when you book.

Do I need to book a table?

Booking is recommended, especially for a terrace table in peak season (June–August). You can reserve online in a couple of minutes through our booking page.

Where is La Posada, and is there parking?

We're on the terrace of the Palacio del Rey Sancho at Plaça Miranda des Lladoners 3, in the centre of Valldemossa next to the Real Cartuja. Use the public car parks at the village entrance and walk in — it's a few minutes on foot.

What kind of food does La Posada serve?

We're Valldemossa's dedicated wood-fired grill: suckling lamb chops, premium beef entrecôte and grilled fish, alongside Mediterranean and Mallorcan dishes, fresh local produce and Mallorcan wines.

Does the restaurant have a terrace with a view?

Yes — our open-air terrace looks out over the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana mountains, one of the finest dining views in the village.
